About This Quiz and Depression Assessments
Am I Clinically Depressed? You've probably asked yourself this question at some point. Everyone experiences depression at some point. When you are experiencing depression your answer to the question "Am I Depressed?" will probably be a resounding YES! The real issue is whether this is just a temporary depression (i.e. the 'blues' that everyone experiences once in a while) or is it a real medical problem? There are many different scales/quizzes designed to assess whether you may be clinically depressed. The "CES-D" quiz is one of them. The important thing to remember is that any "quiz" or "assessment" you do online or in a book will never be able to give you a formal diagnosis! The purpose of these tools are to assess some of the issues commonly associated with clinical depression. Do not treat the results as a diagnosis. Instead, use them as a starting point in your self-assessment, and talk about the results with your doctor, as medical professionals are the only people that can make a formal diagnosis.
